Physically Disability Support Group Chats: York Federation of Students' Access Centre (YFS Access):

Today! We're offering a new discussion group on Zoom! Join us for the Physical Disability Support Chat June 5, from 5:30 to 7:00! Send us a message to join.

Physical Disability Support Chat is today, June 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 on Zoom! To maintain group safety, please message us (Facebook or Twitter) or email us (yfsaccesscentre@gmail.com) for access to the link and password.

The Physical Disability Support Chat is a digital safe space for physically disabled people to talk about symptoms, emotions, coping, and more. All folks with physical disabilities welcome, including chronic pain, limited mobility, and chronic and episodic illnesses. Hosted by co-coordinator Kat, who has Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Fibromyalgia, and other co-occurring conditions.

The first theme in May is Basic Body Care: Focusing on the fundamentals. We are discussing how to take care of our bodies in accessible ways while isolated. During times of crisis or overwhelming disability symptoms, it can be easy to forget or deprioritize basic daily care or listening to your body. Share your coping strategies and learn from others.

The support group is by and for the physical disability community. All facilitators identify as physically disabled. All physically disabled folks welcome! We respect self-diagnosis.Resources will also be shared online after the group meeting on our website. If you would like to request a specific resource, please send us a message.
If you have any questions or access needs, send us a message on Facebook or email (yfsaccesscentre@gmail.com).
Hope to see you folks there!
