Disability and Work in Canada 2020 Virtual Conference: The Strategy in Action—Pathways and Impacts

Moving Forward Together
Disability and Work in Canada (DWC) Initiative

The Disability and Work in Canada 2020 (DWC 2020) Conference will be held virtually this year over four days in late November and early December (November 25 & 26 and December 1 & 2) from 12:30-3:30 EDT. The theme for this year’s conference is the “Strategy in Action—Pathways and Impacts”. Details about the conference will be posted on this page when they become available.

Since the National Conference in 2017, efforts have been underway to develop a vision and strategy for the future, focused on key initiatives to increase the employment of persons with a disability. A draft strategy was distributed in the Fall of 2018 and discussed at the National Conference in December 2018. The strategy was revised following feedback from consultation across Canada that took place in the spring of 2019. The National Conference in December 2019 reviewed the revised pan-Canadian strategy to improve the level of employment of persons with disabilities and identify the most important early steps in implementation.

Registration is now open!

You are invited to the DWC2020 Virtual Conference that will be held over four days, November 25 & 26 and December 1 & 2, from 12:30-3:30 EDT.

The theme for this year’s conference is the “Strategy in Action—Pathways and Impacts”, with subthemes for each day as follows:

Wednesday November 25, 2020 – The Big Picture--Challenges and Opportunities
Thursday November 26, 2020 – Progress in the Workplace
Tuesday December 1, 2020 – Strengthening Supports for Workers
Wednesday December 2, 2020 – Moving Forward Together

As we all know, 2020 has been a very tough year, creating new challenges for the employment of persons with disabilities.  The DWC conference is focused on how to meet those challenges and continue to make progress on implementation of the Pan-Canadian Strategy for Disability and Work.
