CANCELLED: Canadian Disability Studies Association CDSA-ACÉH 2020 Conference

The Canadian Disability Studies Association (CDSA-ACÉH) Executive Board has made the difficult decision to formally cancel our 2020 conference. This means our association will not be participating in the Federation’s proposed “virtual” Congress.

Our decision was informed by a number of factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread uncertainty. With only two months to prepare and limited resources, we would be unable to host a fully accessible online conference, and believe that this conflicts with our association’s fundamental principles. We also recognize our members’ needs to prioritize their own health and safety, alongside increased demands that come with courses moving online and other unexpected social and economic changes.

We understand that this may come as a major disappointment to our membership who have been looking forward to reconnecting in the spring and working hard preparing their presentations. However we feel this decision is necessary to allow our association to move forward responsibly and sustainably.
Recognizing Accepted Presenters

We would like to formally thank everyone who applied to present at our conference this year, along with our abstract adjudicators. In recognition of this work, either a draft schedule of our planned in-person conference or a list of accepted presentations will be posted on our website in the near future. Those who wish include accepted CDSA-ACÉH 2020 conference presentations on their CVs may reference the following formatting and citation suggestions put forward by the American Psychological Association (APA) and Modern Language Association (MLA).
Refunds: Congress Fees

Refund deadline: April 30, 2020

Those who have already registered for our conference and/or Congress 2020 are eligible for the full reimbursement of both Congress registration fees and CDSA-ACÉH membership fees. Refund requests will be processed by Congress and must be sent to congress@ideas-idees.ca by April 30, 2020.
Membership Fees

Refund deadline: April 30, 2020

Membership fees represent a critical income source for our small organization. Consequently, we are asking that those who have already registered for Congress and who are willing and able consider requesting that only their Congress registration fees be reimbursed (as opposed to both their Congress registration and association membership fees being reimbursed).
