Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) Announces New National Coordinator

(Winnipeg, Manitoba - May 28, 2015)

The Council of Canadians With Disabilities (CCD) Executive is pleased to announce the hiring of James Hicks as the new CCD National Coordinator.  Mr. Hicks will commence his duties June 1, 2015.  Laurie Beachell the current National Coordinator will retire  June 30, 2015 after 31 years of supporting CCD in building a more inclusive and accessible Canada.

Mr. Hicks brings a wealth of leadership and management experience to CCD and is well grounded in the disability rights movement.   Mr. Hicks will work out of Ottawa. He is able to work in both official languages and has experience both inside and outside of government.  CCD Executive was pleased to have strong candidates to choose from for the position of National Coordinator and is excited to explore with Mr. Hicks new ways of advancing the status of Canadians with disabilities as well as building on the good work of the past.

Mr. Hicks will attend CCD’s AGM in Winnipeg June 5 and 6.  

CCD wishes to thank Laurie Beachell for his long and exemplary work as CCD National Coordinator.
