NEADS invites submissions of Mentorship/Internship Programs

Greetings to all student unions, accessibility centres, and advocacy organizations:

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is asking for submissions for any mentorship and internship programs you may be offering/sponsoring for students with disabilities in college or university studies. Our goal is to provide an efficient and effective resource for students with disabilities to have access to this information.

Through our Virtual Access for All Project, NEADS is advocating and aiding in the transition from high school to post-secondary, to and help guide students to be well-equipped when turning over this new page in their lives. Mentorship and Internship programs help serve in this new transition. These programs help students feel more confident, prepared, and well-adapted to their new environment before stepping into their careers and life beyond education.

If your student union, accessibility centre, or advocacy organization provides or knows of any mentorship and internship programs pertaining to careers, community, and peer support - please send your mentorship and internship programs to junique.gooden@neads.ca

More About NEADS' Virtual Access for All Project

NEADS' Virtual Access for All Project provides educational support and awareness aimed at students with disabilities transitioning into post-secondary education. Accessibility and accommodations resources are provided through our quarterly State of the Schools publications, while our regular webinar series addresses topics such as self-advocacy, accessing accommodations at work and school, and transitioning into the workforce. Further, financial support is available through NEADS' Student Awards Program and Accessibility Resilience Program. Virtual Access for All is generously supported by Employment and Social Development Canada's Goal Getters Program, and has recently received an upward amendment in response to positive reception.

Thank you,
