Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) Youth Council Recruitment
The MHCC Youth Council is a safe space that enables young adults (age 18 to 30) with lived and living experience to provide a youth perspective on mental health and recovery.
Although 1.2 million children and youth in Canada are affected by mental illness, less than 20 per cent will receive appropriate treatment.
The Youth Council is a diverse group of individuals from across Canada who represent themselves and their communities while bringing their own mental health and recovery experiences to the table. They represent the voices of young people and advocate on their behalf through work across the MHCC.
Among the Youth Council’s projects are a video about their encounters with mental health stigma and the ‘translation’ of Canada’s first Mental Health Strategy into a youth-friendly format.
