NEADS seeks participants for National Graduate Survey of Students With Disabilities

If you are currently, or were previously enrolled in a graduate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) wants to hear from you! We invite you to participate in an online survey which examines the experiences of, and barriers faced by, graduate students with disabilities across Canada. The survey includes questions about demographics, academics, funding, accommodation and social experiences of graduate students with disabilities in masters and doctoral programs. Your invaluable and unique experience will be instrumental in providing crucial information and help us understand the experiences of graduate students with disabilities in their various programs of study.

The project’s goals are as follows:

·         Examine the experiences of and barriers faced by graduate students with disabilities across Canada;

·         Produce information to develop strategies to facilitate the success of students with disabilities in graduate programs;

·         Develop a discussion paper outlining the current systemic issues for graduate students with disabilities; and,

·         Develop recommendations for the continued improvement of graduate experience for students with disabilities, which can be translated into policy at a provincial or national level.

Be assured, the strictest confidentiality will be observed throughout the survey. The survey is anonymous and no distinguishing information will be published. There will be opportunities throughout the survey for you to provide additional comments. You may choose to withdraw from the study at any time, simply by closing out the web browser. Your choice to withdraw will have no negative impact with NEADS or the researchers.*You will also be given the voluntary option of providing your contact information to enter a draw for an iPad New Generation.*

The survey can be found at http://fluidsurveys.com/s/NEADSGrad/ and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. The deadline for submissions is February 24, 2014. If you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us at mahadeo.sukhai@neads.ca.

Thank you for your participation!
