The Ray Alward Memorial Bursary

Awarded annually to a student in any year and any faculty at the University of Calgary with a satisfactory average and financial need. Preference will be given to a student with a hearing impairment as long as documented proof (i.e. doctor's statement) is attached to the application form. In the event that there are no suitable candidates with a hearing disability, consideration will be given to students with other disabilities as long as proof of such is included with the application form. Apply to the Student Awards and Financial Aid office by June 15.

Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (CARP) Scholarship

Offered annually to a continuing student with a disability who has completed at least one year of studies in the Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation Studies program at the University of Calgary. The award will be based on academic standing and to be eligible students need not be registered full time. Community of Learners (COL) students are also eligible for this award. Apply to: Student Awards and Financial Aid office by June 15.

Louis Lebel Bursary

Offered annually to a student entering second, third or fourth year in any faculty at the University of Calgary, the award will be based on academic merit and financial need and preference will be given to a student with a disability. To be eligible for this award the applicant need only be registered in a minimum of 2 full courses per academic year, providing evidence of a disability tending to impede his or her performance as a student is attached. In the absence of such documentation regular guidelines for undergraduate awards will apply.

Diane D. Pechiulis Award

Offered to physically disabled students entering second, third or fourth year in an undergraduate program in any faculty at the University of Calgary. The awards will be based on financial need and academic merit. Applicants must provide proof of disability (i.e. doctor's statement), and while they must be registered full time they need not carry a full-course load. Apply to: Student Awards and Financial Aid office by June 15.

The George Reed Foundation Scholarship

Offered annually to a student entering second, third or fourth year in any faculty at the University of Calgary. The award will be based on academic merit with preference given to a student who has indicated an interest in working with people with disabilities. Applicants with disabilities must provide proof of disability (i.e. doctor's statement), and while they must be registered full time they need not carry a full-course load. In the event there are no suitable applicants, regular guidelines for undergraduate awards will apply. Apply to: Student Awards and Financial Aid office by June 15.

Michelle Curry-Brumlik Memorial Bursary

One award offered annually to an undergraduate student entering fourth year in the Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies program at the University of Calgary who is intending to work with special needs children and/or their families. The award is based on academic merit and financial need. To be eligible, students should be pursuing a career in teaching or related professions serving this population. Apply to: Student Awards Office by June 15

Alberta Blue Cross 50th Anniversary Bursary for Students with Special Needs

One award offered annually to a student entering first year in any undergraduate faculty at the University of Calgary who will incur additional expenses due to a disability/handicap. The award is based on academic merit and financial need and applicants must provide proof of disability (i.e. doctor's statement). To be eligible for this award, students must be graduates of an Alberta high school and be registered full time but need not carry a full course load. Apply to: Student Awards Office by February 1.
