Council of Ontario Universities' Mental Health Social Media Campaign Competition

Dear NEADS,

The Council of Ontario Universities (COU) is pleased to announce the launch of a new social media competition, Mental Health 2.0 (www.mentalhealth20.ca). We are asking students at any publicly funded institution in Ontario,  grads and undergrads, to submit their ideas for social media campaigns that promote mental health. Entrants can work individually or in teams, and can choose from a variety of accessible formats to submit their work. They do not need to plan, create, and run complete social media campaigns. We are only asking for:

1.       a sample of the content they would use or a description of content they would produce, and

2.       a brief explanation of how they would reach their target audiences.

If any entrants have already developed a similar campaign, moreover, they can re-use the same content for this competition. This is an excellent opportunity for students to help build awareness about mental health issues on campus and to demonstrate the social media communications skills that are currently in high demand among employers.

COU is offering the following prizes:

1.       $1,500 for first place

2.       $1,000 for second place

3.       $500 for third place

We encourage any NEADS members, who are eligible, to apply. If your members know anyone else who might be interested, as well, please feel free to forward this message or direct them to the website. If you have any questions or concerns about the contest, please feel free to email Josh Lovell at the number/email address below.

All the best,

Josh Lovell, PhD
