Jim Flaherty Champion of Canadians With Disabilities Dies

Media Release -  April 10, 2014 - For Immediate Release:

The disability community in Canada has lost a true champion with the death of the Honourable Jim Flaherty.  The Council of Canadians With Disabilities (CCD) extends our condolences to his family.  As one of Canada’s longest serving Ministers of Finance, Jim Flaherty never forgot or ignored the needs of Canadians with disabilities.  Even during the most difficult of economic times in 2008, Minister Flaherty kept disability issues on the agenda and he continued to move forward initiatives that would address the disproportionate poverty of Canadians with disabilities.  He will be missed in our community.  He made a difference.
