Take a Sick Day!

On August 18, 2012 from 10:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., join us at the AGO (317 Dundas Street West) for a full day of strategy sessions and collective discussions on our relationships to and experiences with our bodies and disability. Our goal is to talk about “health” on our own terms and as our own experts. Artists will share their work and students will talk about the barriers they encounter inside and outside of the classroom. Through resource sharing over the course of several roundtable discussions throughout the day, we hope to build alternative, creative and sustainable support networks.

Topics include: • Getting a job and keeping it • Dealing with various service providers • Sex and dating
Registration is open to Indigenous and racialized youth (aged 30 and under) who: • Self-identify as disabled • Experience physical, cognitive, and emotional differences • And/or who are critical of being labeled disabled, disordered, dysfunctional, sick (e.g. critical of medical diagnoses, psychiatric models of "illness", and the explanations they impose) Please note: You do not have to disclose your disability to attend. This event is queer and trans positive.

Attendant care and TTC tokens will be provided. ALLIES, you do not need to register. Instead, please contact the organizers at takeasickday@gmail.com for opportunities to volunteer!
