2015 Jones Memorial Lecture *SAVE THE DATE* - October 22, 2015

The 2015 Jones Memorial Lecture will be held on October 22, 2015 from 7pm to 8:30pm at the University of Alberta Campus (11210 87 Avenue) in the Education North Building, room ED N2-115.

Dr. Gina Oliva will present a lecture titled "I have a CI” is the new Hard of Hearing: Using the Lens of Social Capital to Make Life Better for Hard of Hearing Schoolchildren.

This presentation will provide participants with background information from sociology and psychology that support an empowering way of looking at the social relations of the up and coming generation of hard of hearing/deaf children. The concept of social capital from Robert Putnam's landmark best-seller, "Bowling Alone" will be used to help participants envision strategies for enhancing these social relationships.

ASL Interpretation (Deaf & Hearing teams) and CART will be provided, with a reception and light refreshments to follow the lecture.

This event will also be live-streamed for those that cannot make it to the University of Alberta Campus.
