ABOUT THE STRATEGY & THESE WEBCASTS

This is an ongoing series of free Learning Webcasts for Employment of Persons with Disabilities, part of Alberta’s Employment First Strategy.

The Alberta Employment First Strategy focuses on ensuring that Albertans with disabilities have access to and are supported in meaningful job opportunities that contribute to a rich and fulfilling life. With these webcasts, we hope to provide a forum for open dialogue and share stories, tools, and strategies to increase employment for individuals with disabilities. These sessions are intended to spark the collective imagination of individuals, families, agencies, and employers on how we can all work collaboratively to create inclusive workplaces and communities.

You can watch full videos of previous webcasts on the Alberta Employment First Strategy Webcasts webpage.

Employment First -Alberta Employment First Strategy

Employment provides us all with the opportunity to make more money, learn new skills, build new relationships and feel a closer connection to our community. But Albertans with disabilities have a 15 per cent lower workforce participation rates than average due to a number of challenges including transportation difficulties and public perceptions.

The Alberta Employment First Strategy calls on governments, employers, agencies, and Albertans to work together to welcome more people with disabilities into our workplaces. Please enjoy the free Employment First Webcast Series, an ongoing series to help Albertans understand the barriers, solutions and benefits to employing persons with disabilities.

Human Services has formed an Employer Advisory Councils for both the Private Sector and the Public Sector to provide advice and solutions to help more people with disabilities get into the workforce.

Human Services has also created a new Employment First Innovation Fund and Employment First Internship Program to create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
