Introduction

The ninth NEADS conference was held at the Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites from November 8-10, 2002. The conference was made possible with grant funding for project work from the Office of Learning Technologies, and the Youth Employment Strategy, Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). The initiatives of the Association are supported through organizational funding from the Social Development Partnerships Program of HRDC. We would also like to acknowledge the generous contributions of the following organizations: Scotiabank Group of Companies (Premier Sponsor), Bank of Montreal Group of Companies and the Interdepartmental Committee of the National Recruitment and Retention Strategy for Persons with Disabilities in Science and Technology (Prestige Sponsors), TD Bank Financial Group, Air Canada, Canada Post, Acuity Research Group Inc. and Braille Jymico (Associate Sponsors).

We are grateful to members of the NEADS Conference Planning Committee for their commitment in developing the conference agenda and special events. The conference program was translated by Mireille Lévesque. Layout and design of the publication was completed by ALDI Design. Chris Gaulin, NEADS' Web site Architect, developed the "Opening Doors to Success" Web site on www.neads.ca Braille Jymico prepared the conference documents in Braille. Myrtis Fossey read the text onto audio tape. Michael Sanford assisted with technical support throughout the weekend.
